About AH Garner and their lighting requirements
AH Garner are a renowned precision engineering company based in Nottingham, specialists in Hydraulic Cylinder Manufacturing. The company is dedicated to sustainability and operational efficiency, which led to their decision to upgrade their lighting system to more energy-efficient solutions.
Working in a manufacturing environment, health and safety and precision are two key factors to consider. The existing fluorescent and incandescent lighting system at AH Garner was outdated and inefficient, requiring frequent maintenance. Therefore, the client required brighter, higher quality lighting to ensure safety in their workshop. It was crucial to upgrade the lighting with minimal disruption to AH Garner’s ongoing operations too. Additionally, the new lighting system needed to meet the specific requirements of different areas within the facility.
The project
Our team of experts provided a comprehensive solution, beginning with a detailed survey of the existing lighting in various workshops and offices. This assessment identified the specific needs and challenges of each area. Based on the survey, a tailored LED lighting scheme was designed, and a detailed cost proposal was provided. This proposal included an energy-saving cost analysis, carbon savings, and return on investment (ROI) to help the client understand the true impact the swap to LEDs would make.
The implementation of the project was carefully scheduled to align with AH Garner’s monthly budget and working arrangements, minimising disruption to their operations. We replaced outdated fluorescent and incandescent light fittings with efficient LED fittings across the facility.
From office style fittings, round fittings, battens and low-bay fittings to specialised fittings tailored to different tasks and environments. The upgrades ensured enhanced lighting quality and efficiency across the facility.
The result
The LED lighting upgrade resulted in a substantial reduction in energy consumption for AH Garner. Specifically, the upgrade has led to a predicted 47.67% reduction in energy usage in the first year following installation. The enhanced lighting quality improved the working environment in workshops and offices. The project also led to a significant reduction in carbon footprint, aligning with AH Garner’s sustainability goals.
When we asked Russ at AH Garner how their new LED lighting had affected their factory, he said, “It’s actually been brilliant, it really has. It’s made a major, major difference. We can see what we’re doing now!”
