The Challenge
An electrical supply and distribution system was required to support a new egg vending shed installation and associated outbuildings. The project needed to provide reliable power for lighting, sockets, and future expansion, while also allowing for phased completion works as building stages were finished on site.
Additional requirements included external lighting provision and preparation for future electrical additions, meaning the installation needed to remain flexible for return visits.
The Solution
CJ Timms Electrical installed a new sub-main supply running from the gate position to the egg vending shed, providing a reliable incoming feed for the installation.
A 2-way distribution unit was installed to allow for safe and organised distribution of power to the various circuits across the site. From this, a socket circuit was installed complete with 2 x twin socket outlets to provide practical power access within the outbuildings.
Lighting was installed within the egg vending shed, along with a dedicated switch for local control. In addition, an external lighting point was installed on a tree to provide illumination to the surrounding area.
Provision was also made for future works and phased completion. This included allowance for a return visit to complete internal lighting installation once the shed ceiling had been boarded, as well as additional socket installation requirements in the chicken shed.
All installations were fully tested and certified upon completion of each phase of works to ensure safety and compliance.
The Outcome
The installation provided a safe, flexible, and scalable electrical infrastructure to support the egg vending operation and surrounding outbuildings.
The system now offers reliable power distribution for sockets and lighting, with additional capacity for future development. Phased completion works ensure the installation can be safely adapted as building works progress, without disruption to existing services.
The result is a practical and future-proof electrical solution tailored to the operational needs of the site. And not forgetting…. Powering the shed today, with fresh eggs waiting just down the drive tomorrow.
