      Inside the Exalto Factory

Exalto UK: Electrically Advising to Find a Suitable New Warehouse

      About Exalto: A Long-Standing Client

Exalto is a manufacturer of high-quality rubber-lined and composite cutlass bearings for the pump and marine industries, located in Derby. We are proud to have worked alongside Exalto as their trusted electrical specialists over the past few decades, with three generations of Timms having worked on projects for them. Over the years, typical electrical work for Exalto has consisted of repairing machine breakdowns, wiring new machines ready for use and maintaining lighting in the building. This time, the task at hand was a little bigger!

The Challenge: The Need for a Bigger Building

After years of working from their long-standing premises, the team and operation had scaled too large to remain operating from this outgrown building. Exalto needed to start a search for a suitable new building in which to operate from – but what would it take for a building to be sufficient? That’s where we were called in to assist. Installing data loggers, we measured Exalto’s current electrical usage and used this to work out what size the new building would have to be in order to be sufficient to keep up with their current usage and with scope to grow with them into the future.

As the Exalto Team attended site visits for potential new bases, the CJ Timms team joined them to advise on the current electrical installations at each site and the possible work that would be needed to make it suitable for Exalto, which helped them to make a more informed decision.

The Solution: A New Home for Exalto

Once Exalto had made their decision and settled on a site, it didn’t take long for the Exalto team to get us in to begin making the required alterations to the electrical infrastructure to make the move from the old to the new as seamless as possible. Planning ahead before the move, we made sure each machine had the correct supply in the right place in advance of it moving reducing loss of valuable production time.

      The Result: Optimised Production

Since settling down in their new fit-for-purpose premises, Exalto has been optimising production by adding and updating ovens, presses and machines, where the CJ Timms teams have been there every step of the way to wire and adapt the new plant.
